It’s been so long since we posted something new I think I forgot how! No worries! It just means we’ve been busy – rain or shine! Today it is pouring again so before I head out to the potting shed for more transplanting I thought I should post a few pictures to let you know we are still on track here at the farm with planting and growing. Unlike folks with flat land (the ones we have been so envious of in the past) we have beds that are ready for planting, and have been planted, thanks to gravity and diversion to move that water along. The early new potatoes are planted and already peeking through, peas are sprouting and early onions are out in the field thriving under their row cover – which they don’t really need but we feel better. The hoophouse and glasshouse beds are full and bursting with greenery. Hens, pullets and meat chicks are all happy. The dogs, however, are a bit demoralized wondering why I won’t let them in the house with their soggy coats. So here are a few pictures I took when it wasn’t raining on Monday. Oh, and who is Scrabbers? Remember the chick with the bent neck?
- Hoophouse Happiness
- Red Choi and Mustard Greens
- Cilantro, Sweet Salad Turnips and Beets
- Tomato Seedlings
- Compost, garlic and onions under row cover
- February pullets enjoying their new digs. See Scrabbers by the wall?
- Frittata using farm fresh eggs and frozen greens from last year. Yum!
I don’t need to say it but I will anyway – enough with the rain already!
